Barbara Jean Ogle Bramlitt, 92, passed away on January 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1930, to Barney and Grace Ogle in Knoxville, TN. She was a member and a graduate of the first nursing class of East Tennessee Baptist Hospital. It was at the hospital where she met her husband Eddie Eugene Bramlitt, who was a medical intern. As Dr. Bramlitt was finishing his degree and later serving in the Navy, they lived in New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Knoxville, TN and Memphis, TN before settling in New Albany, MS in 1962. Barbara was a homemaker, served as a school nurse and often helped Dr. Bramlitt at his surgical clinic. She was a member of First Baptist church where she was active in the Susan Feather Sunday School Class and served on several committees over the years. She was an avid reader, loved the outdoors and taking care of her flowers. She was a member of the New Albany Garden Club and Mother’s Club and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She and Dr. Bramlitt were avid travelers and visited many countries with their friends and family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dr. E. E. Bramlitt, a son David Andrew Bramlitt, a son Stephen Allen Bramlitt, her parents Barney and Grace Ogle and a brother, Robert Ogle. She is survived by a brother Joe Ogle of Florida, a son Eddie Bramlitt, (Jamie), a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bramlitt, a daughter Ellen Bramlitt Robbins, (Steve), all of New Albany, MS and a daughter Mary Kathryn Bramlitt Lemons, (Ted) of Guntown, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joey Bramlitt (Pam) of New Albany, MS, Mike Bramlitt of Algoma, MS, Megan Bramlitt Hinkle (Nate) of Memphis, TN, Mollie Bramlitt Rowland (Alex) of New Albany, MS, Wesley Robbins of New Albany, MS, Bramlitt Robbins of Memphis, TN, Rowan Robbins (Mackenzie) of Ingomar, MS, Nicholas Frenn of New Albany, MS, Natalie Frenn Lowery (Josh) of New Albany, MS and her great-grandchildren, Tate and Tyler Bramlitt, Harper and Genivieve Hinkle, Bennett Rowland, Slate Robbins, Roamie and Stoney Lowery.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, at First Baptist Church in New Albany with Bro. Andrew Chesteen officiating. There will be a special presentation by the Northeast Mississippi Nurse Honor Guard. Burial will be in Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
