James Edward Goodwin, 93
September 23, 1929 – September 18, 2023
James Edward Goodwin was born September 23, 1929 to James M. And Leone O. Goodwin in New Albany, MS. He died at his New Albany home on September 18. He grew up in Union County and graduated from Center High School in 1947. After graduating from Wood Junior College and attending Berea College Berea, KY. He entered the US Navy in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. After discharge from the Navy he went to work for Sears Roebuck and Company in 1954 and served in eight states as both Catalog and Retail Store Managers. He retired from Sears as a Regional Manager in Pasadena, CA. In 1988. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Paul and Richard Goodwin and by his wife of 61 years, Joan Dunlap Goodwin. He is survived by his son Dr. Kenneth Goodwin and granddaughter Sydney Anderson of Roswell, GA, daughters Cindy Goodwin of New Albany, MS and Cheryl (Gary) Tatge of Springhill, TN, grandson Jonathan ( Jennifer ) and great granddaughter Josephine Goodwin of Dublin, OH.
James was a practicing Christian and member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was an avid musician playing the violin, cello, and guitar. He and his wife sang in church choirs for more than 40 years.
