On Friday afternoon, January 20, 2023, Valerie Morgan Thomas, 58, resident of Hickory Flat, departed this life at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis following a brief illness.
Funeral Services remembering the life of Ms. Thomas will be at 11 AM Wednesday, January 25 in The Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care. A private family burial will be at a later date.
Ms. Thomas was born April 14, 1964 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late Chester Lee Morgan and Patricia Huff Dillard. She was a 1982 graduate of West Union High School and was employed as a photographer for the New Albany Gazette and a Customer Service Representative-Loan Officer for several finance companies in the local area.
A Christian, Ms. Thomas will be remembered for her love of horses and the outdoors which included tending to flower gardens and working in her yard. She was a fan of the Ole Miss Rebels and enjoyed every opportunity to share time with her beloved family and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM Wednesday, January 25 at New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care.
Memories will continue to be shared by her daughter, Stephanie Thomas Decanter (“Pete”) of Myrtle, two sisters, Kathryn Bateman (Tommy) of Pinedale and Sharon Morgan of New Albany,her precious grandson, Kristopher Ray Smith, two loyal canine companions, “Dash” and “Little Girl” and a multitude of cats.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Angela Dillard Bagwell and Marie Morgan Copeland and a brother, Chester Levaughn Morgan.
