Tanglefoot Trail Pavilion nears completion

New Albany, MS-Work is near completion on the new pavilion being built on the Tanglefoot Trail, south of downtown New Albany.

The pavilion is located next to the “warm up” exercise station on the west side of the Tanglefoot Trail, southeast of the Imperial Distributing warehouse in the 600 block of Carter Avenue. The structure is visible from Carter Avenue, but is presently accessible only via the Tanglefoot Trail.

The GM&O Tanglefoot Trail Authority received a $100,000 grant from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (WPF). The pavilion under construction in New Albany is one of several Tanglefoot Trail amenities being built with money from the WFP grant:

  • several rain shelters will be built along the trail
  • some equipment will be purchased
  • a pavilion like the one in New Albany will be built at the southern end of the trail in Houston, MS.

Keith Herring of the GMO Tanglefoot Trail Authority said, weather permitting, the pavilion in New Albany could be finished by the end of this week
