Grant award boosts “Recycling Wednesdays” program at NAES
New Albany Elementary School has been awarded a $1,000 grant through the Mississippi Recycling Coalition School Recycling Grant Awards Program. Jimmie Moore, Mississippi Recycling Coalition Board Member, presented the grant award to NAES on Wednesday, February 22. Accepting the check was NAES Counselor April Hobson who coordinates the recycling program at the school. School administrators, school staff, students, city officials, and members of the NA Recycles Committee were on hand for the presentation.

The grant will be used to assist with the “Recycling Wednesdays” program at NAES which encourages students and staff to bring recyclables from home to place in the school’s recycling bins. The school intends to purchase a large collection bin to allow for more materials to be collected and stored prior to pick-up.
This grant project will allow the school to expand its current recycling program and to collaborate with the City of New Albany, the NA Recycles initiative, and First Methodist Church Cub Scout Pack #17.
