Museum Moments continues MS statehood celebration, March 16

Mississippi: 200 Years of Statehood, Treasurers of the Archive is the topic of March Museum Moments, Thursday, March 16, at the Union County Heritage Museum.

Jennifer Ford, professor and head of special collections at the University of Mississippi, J.D. William library, will tell about the collection as related to the history of Mississippi that is being exhibited.

Mississippi was admitted as the 20th state on Dec. 10, 1817.  “The Department of Archives and Special Collections has pulled together some of our rarest items documenting the state’s 200-year history,” said Jennifer Ford, head of special collections. “Commemorating this bicentennial year has been the focus of the department’s faculty and staff for several months.” Ford will discuss the archival treasurer of the collection which date back to the 1700s at Museum Moments. The event is free and open to the public and is made possible by the museum’s Community Partners.

A light lunch will be available at 11:30 courtesy of the New Albany Garden Club.
