Chickasaw Celebration event set April 18 at museum in New Albany

Chickasaw Celebration

Chickasaw dancers and a  cultural delegation, speakers , Homeland Art and food are all part of the Chickasaw Celebration  set at the Union County Heritage Museum in New Albany on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7:30.

The event is free and open to the public.  It is  sponsored by the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation, the museum and other partners. Featured will be the Chickasaw Nation Dance Troupe, cultural demonstrations, and special guest speakers on Chickasaw history and culture!

The speakers will be as follows  Dr. Brad Lieb, , “Great Discoveries in Chickasaw Archaeology 1825-2016”; Raymond Doherty presenting “The George and Saleechie Colbert Site’s Archaeology and History” ; and author Dr. John Dyson – “Place Names – An Enduring Chickasaw Presence in North Mississippi.

Union County and New Albany High School Art will have a Homeland Art Category and the Tallahatchie Arts Council will have an artistic presence.   The museum is located at 114 Cleveland Street in New Albany.   For more information to www.ChickasawCelebration.com or call 662-538-0014.
