For the second time in two days, a truck accident on I-22 eastbound has stopped or slowed traffic in New Albany.

Traffic backing up on I-22, after traffic in heavy rainfall.

At about 6:20 PM, a Swift Transportation truck jackknifed on the eastbound I-22 bridge at the Tallahatchie River and Central Avenue. Heavy rainfall was creating treacherous conditions on the roadway at the time of the accident.

New Albany police were on the scene before 6:30 PM

It appeared one lane of I 22 was still open at about 6:45 PM.

A truck accident early Thursday morning at I-22 mile marker 59 blocked all or part of I-22 traffic through New Albany for 12 hours.
