Two from New Albany attend Culinary Boot Camp
Mikael-Olivia Knowlton, a rising senior and a culinary arts student, at New Albany High School, attended a Culinary Boot Camp at Ocean Springs High School June 19-22. Top performing ProStart high school culinary students from across the state attended the intensive training program that exposed them to various ethnic cuisines. A major goal of the boot camp was to prepare students for careers in the food service industry.
Anita Alef, Culinary Arts Instructor at the New Albany School of Career & Technical Education Center, attended the culinary boot camp with Knowlton. Alef and Knowlton learned how to prepare Greek, Italian, French, and Vietnamese cuisines. Knowlton’s and Alef’s participation in the program was sponsored in part by the New Albany School of Career & Technical Education and the 21st Century Community Learning Center’s Grant Program.
