New Albany MS-Bettye J. Bailey,88, passed away May28,2019 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She was born October 10,1930 in Thaxton, MS to the late Thomas H. Porch and Lois McCharen Porch.

She was a 1948 graduate of Pontotoc High School and served as Deputy Tax Collector for Union County until retirement.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in New Albany.

She loved traveling with her husband during his lifetime in their RV. While her husband served his country in the US Army, she raised her four children. She was also a big St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Service will be at 4p.m. Thursday, May 30th, in the United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dr. John Staggs officiating. Burial will be in the Glenfield Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Bailey Staggs (John), of New Albany; three sons: Bill Bailey (Allison) of Oxford, Steven Bailey (special friend, Danielle Whiteside) and Jay Bailey all of New Albany and her sister-n-law, Glendora Roberts (Glen) of New Albany; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James H. “Bill” Bailey, her parents, a brother, Bozy Porch, and a sister, Tommye Lou Hobson.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
