NAPD tracked and arrested ring of “outdoor thieves”

New Albany, MS – Alleged outdoor thieves arrested by New Albany Police Department

On Friday June 7th, 2019 The New Albany Police Dept. received a theft report from Walton’s Greenhouse at 690 West Bankhead St. New Albany, Ms. They reported several items being taken from the business.

Upon further investigation, New Albany Police Dept. Investigators received video footage from surrounding businesses that captured the vehicle and outdoor thieves stealing the merchandise. Later that day the Investigators received a tip about where a car matching the description was located. Investigators went to the address, and found a vehicle matching the description of the one in the video backed into the driveway.

Two males were present. The vehicle’s trunk was open and the men appeared to be unloading the stolen items in question. A search warrant was obtained, and items from multiple businesses were found on the property. It’s still under investigation at this time, but both males were arrest and charged.

The alleged outdoor thieves arrested were Marcus Rios, age 28, and Steven McDaniel, age 36.

Each subject was charged with 3 counts of grand larceny. Bond is $20,000.00 on each count.

The victims in this case include Glenfield Monument, Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply Company, Walton’s Green House, Glenfield Market, and Re-Designing Women. It is estimated over $5000.00 worth of merchandise had been stolen from these businesses.
