Blue Springs-Virgil Victor Herring, 91, died Friday, June 14, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County. He was born June 30, 1927, in Union County to Troy and Mary Dunlap Herring. He was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church. He graduated from New Harmony High School and served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. He helped start the Liberty Schoolhouse restoration and was very active in continuing the Liberty Schoolhouse legacy.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Center Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Lee Graham officiating. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by 1 daughter: Jolene Tutor of Blue Springs; 1 son: Keith Herring (Lois) of Blue Springs; 7 grandchildren: DeAnna Booth, Steve Tutor, Rony Herring, Jon Herring, Jill Herring, James Pannell, and Josh Pannell; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Julia Frances Lessell Herring; 1 daughter: Inita Pannell; and 2 brothers: Damon Herring and Edward Herring.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Robert Booth. Honorary pallbearers will be Liberty Schoolhouse members.

Memorials may be made to the Liberty Schoolhouse Fund.
