Union County Library gets more donated bikes

NEMiss.news Library to open on Saturdays

When the Union County Library opens, it will have six more bicycles available to check out.

This past week Dale and Susan Parker donated the bikes, which belonged to family members and have been in storage.

Dale said there was no reason for them to go unused and both Parkers called supporting the Tanglefoot Trail “a good cause” and said it was such a wonderful asset for the area.

Some of the bikes are vintage and were ridden by Dale’s brother, Clark’s children.

That means the library has a variety of sizes and styles of bicycles, including bike trailers to pull with infants in them.

One style that is not available is the larger three-wheel type sometimes used by older people, so library staff members are hoping some will be donated. If not, they may eventually be purchased.

What makes the donation more unusual is that the Parkers are not even from New Albany. They live in Corinth. Mr. Parker works in IT at North Mississippi Medical Center and Mrs. Parker, a former newscaster for WTVA, is on the staff of U. S. Rep. Trent Kelly.

Even though they don’t live here, they have used and appreciate the Tanglefoot Trail.
