Man faces knife assault and drug charges in domestic case
A local man is facing assault and drug charges following a domestic incident this past week.
Police Chief Chris Robertson said that officers received a 911 call about 5 p.m. Oct. 1 that a woman was on the ground, apparently injured.
Officers arrived to find the woman, who was not identified, lying in the gravel of the parking lot at the Agape free clinic on North Street, across from 502.
“She had a large laceration on her arm and said her boyfriend, Donyelle Riddle, had assaulted her with a knife,” he said.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released, the chief said.
Investigators arrived and later learned that the suspect was seen at the South Central Laundromat.
“They found Riddle in the bathroom with the door locked,” Robertson said. The officers eventually talked him out of the restroom where he was taken into custody.
“During a pat-down officers found two small packets of what they believed was meth and some scales,” the chief said.
Riddle, 37, was charged with aggravated domestic assault with a knife and possession of methamphetamine. The chief said his bond was set at $50,000.
