Fire departments have had busy two days with variety of calls
County and City Fire Departments have stayed busy Friday and Saturday so far, according to Fire Chief Mark Whiteside.
As of 4 p.m. Saturday, area department calls included an automobile accident including entrapment, several emergency medical responder calls, a fully involved structure fire, two calls involving electrical appliances, and woods and grass fires.
A structure fire was reported on County Road 245 Saturday morning in the Center Fire Department district with North Haven Fire Department mutual aid. “Due to the possibility of entrapment and exposures, New Albany Rescue was called as mutual aid for assistance for manpower, RIT, and search and rescue,” Whiteside said.
Upon arrival the structure was fully involved and crews kept fire from reaching a neighboring home. Crews evacuated the neighboring home and confirmed nobody was at home at the involved structure.
The home and contents were a total loss, a neighboring field was slightly affected from the embers and heat, and the neighboring home sustained light heat damage to a window covering, he said.
No injuries were reported from any of the involved departments or residents.
“Good, quick work from firefighters controlled this scene well,” he said.
