Baptist Union County Names Dr. Robert Barnett as Chief Medical Officer

NEW ALBANY, MISS., December 30, 2020 – Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County recently named Dr. Robert Barnett as its chief medical officer.  The position was previously held by Dr. H.F. Mason, who has accepted the chief medical officer role at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto.

Dr. Barnett will have direct responsibility for medical staff relations and will focus on quality of care, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency for physician-driven services, according to the hospital’s CEO and administrator, James Grantham.

Dr. Barnett, who served as chief of medical staff from 2019-2020, will continue hisOB/GYN practice at the Advanced OB/GYN Clinic.  Prior to moving to New Albany in 2015, Dr. Barnett served as chief medical officer for the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Texas.

A native of Missouri, Dr. Barnett is highly respected among his medical colleagues and community members, according to hospital leadership. He and his wife, Kim, have five children, and are active in the community.

He attended medical school at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri and completed his residency at Washington University Department of OB/GYN.
