Two different wrecks at one scene on I-22 result in one serious injury

A collision between a tractor trailer and an automobile at the intersection of I-22 and Highway 15  early Friday sent one seriously injured person to Memphis Regional One.

An off-duty New Albany fireman at the scene reported one person was entrapped. NAFD’s Rescue One Unit and officers from the New Albany Police Department went to the scene and quickly removed the injured person. The person was first taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital – Union County and shortly thereafter was transported by helicopter to Regional One Hospital in Memphis.

While crews were working the original accident, another 18 wheeler rig came through the scene and its trailer collided with the trailer involved in the earlier accident. This caused more problems and delays, but there were no additional injuries caused by the second collision.
