Dr. Linda Grisham, 77

May 25, 1948 – September 15, 2025

Dr. Linda Grisham, age 77, passed away Monday night, September 15, 2025 Baptist Memorial Hospital- Union County. Linda was the wife of Eddie Grisham of New Albany, MS.



Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Christine Thomas of Union County. She is survived by her husband, Eddie “Ed” of 58 years; one son, John Grisham of Hickory Creek, Texas; one daughter, Beth Grisham of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; two brothers, Billy Thomas (Joyce) of WeDowee, Alabama and Elvis Thomas of Myrtle, Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Grisham of New Albany; two granddaughters, Parker Grisham and Avery Grisham of Hickory Creek, Texas, and fifteen beloved nieces and nephews.

Linda was a graduate of Northeast Jr. College, where she was selected Miss Northeast. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Mississippi. She later completed post graduate work in Georgia and received her Doctor of Education degree from Georgia State University in 2003.

Linda was truly a master teacher and a dynamic principal. She taught in New Albany, Mississippi, Calhoun, Georgia, and Thomson, Georgia. She became an assistant principal and later principal at Dearing Elementary School, where she led it to a high performing school status in Georgia. She was loved and respected by all.

Linda taught Sunday School, Bible Study and led youth organizations for over 40 years in Mississippi and Georgia. She often directed the Bible School program and initiated the Grief Share programs at First Baptist Church, New Albany.

Linda was very active in sponsoring and promoting Compassion For Kids. She sponsored many children throughout the years. Linda loved Jesus and always wanted to share with others. She developed close friendships with people of all walks of life and was always eager to help anyone in need.

Linda loved and was devoted to her husband, Eddie, their children and grandchildren. Her most cherished moments were times spent with family, especially children and grandchildren on trips out West and athletic events at Ole Miss. She loved her plants and flowers and wanted to share them with others along with the Love of Jesus.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of New Albany, MS from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025. The funeral service will follow in the main sanctuary at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, friends are requested to make honorariums to First Baptist Church of New Albany Sanctuary Fund.
