Cornelia Kimmons Wood, 98

May 6, 1926 – June 8, 2024

Cornelia (Corky) Kimmons Wood passed away June 8, 2024, at the age of 98. She was born May 6, 1926, in Oxford, MS and lived most of her life in Union County.
Services to honor her life will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, at United Funeral Service at 1:00 pm with a visitation prior from 11:00 am until 1:00. The burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Lafayette County.
She worked almost 20 years in the Union County Superintendent’s office. Later, she volunteered in the local hospital gift shop. Watching Mississippi State sports was one of her favorite pastimes. Her church, Calvary Methodist, held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Knighton (Johnny) and Gail Speck (Glenn); Grand-children, Mindi Stout, Corey Knighton (Christy), Casie Cook, Daniel Knighton (Brittney), and Abby Stroud (Quince); and her nine great-grandchildren, Cameron Stout, Lilly Stout, Cohen Knighton, Bailey Cook, Avery Cook, Brooklyn Knighton, Preston Knighton, Delilah Stroud and Nate Stroud.
Cornelia was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Minnie Cromwell Kimmons, husband Hoyt Butler Wood, three sisters, one brother, and one great-grandchild, Martha Collins Knighton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice in Cornelia’s memory.
