Andrew Lee Hobson, 70

December 24, 1953 – June 27, 2024

Andrew Lee Hobson was born on December 24, 1953, to Umbret and the late Levert Hobson in Houlka, MS. He professed faith and hope in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age as a member of Thompson Chapel CME Church.

Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Ann Chewe on August 3, 1973, and later joined East Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Charles Keys. At East Baptist, he served as a faithful member until his death as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, male choir president, bus driver, and trustee.

Professionally, Lee Hobson worked at Pontotoc Electric Power Association for 42 years as a lineman and supervisor. He was also a bonded and licensed electrician who worked diligently to serve our community. He was a member of the Pontotoc Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed taking special care of his lawn, riding motorcycles, and eating seafood.

Lee was the epitome of a Godly family man. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly. He modeled leadership like no other. A true gentleman, Lee’s sense of style was unrivaled, and often imitated but never duplicated. He was everyone’s “Daddy Lee.” Cool, calm, and a man of few words, his “talks” with children provided better results than any other form of discipline. Lee Hobson’s legacy among family, friends, and practically anyone he encountered will live forever.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Levert Hobson; his brother, James (Sonny) Hobson, and his grandmother, Rosie Pulliam.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Pat Hobson; his mother, Umbret Hobson; two daughters, Tonya (Richmond) Smith of Pontotoc, MS and Kenosha Hobson of Dallas, TX; two grand “SONS,” Annanias (Andrea) Word of Monroe, LA and Richie Smith of Pontotoc, MS; three special daughters, Marissa (Ricardo) Pittman of Pontotoc, MS, Raiyn Chewe of Pontotoc, MS, and Kierston Wade of Pontotoc, MS; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Jaycee; four brothers, Michael (Daisy) Hobson, Jasper Hobson, Willie Gene Hobson, and Tracy (Dawn) Hobson all of Houlka, MS; three sisters, Dyanne Judon of Pontotoc, MS, Eunice (Steve) Caruthers of Tupelo, MS, and Rosie Turner of Houlka, MS; and a host of other godsons, goddaughters, nieces, nephews, & friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at East Baptist Church, 340 Clark Street, Pontotoc, MS. Funeral service will be Monday, July 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Pontotoc High School Gymnasium, 123 North Main Street, Pontotoc, MS.
