Havard Ray “Wood” Hobson, 75

 October 7, 1948 – July 15, 2024

Mr. Havard Ray “Wood” Hobson was born October 7, 1948 to Elmoer Hobson and Earlean Foote. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Low Friendship CME Church. He later joined Usher Valley United Methodist Church, where he was a faithful member of the usher board and male choir, until his health failed him.

Wood was very skillful with his hands. He was an excellent hunter, fisherman, cook, and just your everyday handyman. He worked in the furniture industry until he retired from De’ville Manufacturer.

Wood was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ethel Mae Pegues and Eva Hobson, two brothers: Charles Foote and Jessie Foote.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of forty six years Ethel Mae Hobson; two sons: Roscoe McGlaun and Orlando (Tavetia) Foster of Pontotoc, MS; one goddaughter Elder Candice Frison of Jackson, TN; three brothers: Desoto Hobson, Curtis Hobson, and Willie Foote all of Pontotoc, MS; five sisters: Virginia (Billy) Pegues, Charlene (Larry) White, Ruby Fitzpatrick all of Pontotoc, MS, Shirley Hicks of Jackson, MS, and Shelia Foote of Tupelo, MS; two “Michigan brothers” Lin Walker and Ricky Foster of Grand Rapids, MI; one special son: Norman (Louise) Foster of Pontotoc, MS; one special daughter: Donna (Shelby) Pannell of Tupelo, MS; three grandchildren, Porchae (Blake) Field of Booneville, MS, Xavier Foster, and Kelden Foster of Pontotoc, MS; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Funeral service will be Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Usher Valley United Methodist Church in Pontotoc, MS.
