With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carolyn Pannell on September 21, 2024, at 5:21 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones following an intense battle with her health. Funeral Services honoring the life of Carolyn, will be at 2 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Tippah County.
Carolyn, 61, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and light will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on February 8, 1963, in Blue Mountain. Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Charlie Brown of Blue Mountain and Dottie Short of Ripley. She spent 40 beautiful years married to the love of her life, Terry Pannell, until his passing in April 2022. Together, they built a life of love and faith, raising their three daughters, Terri Brookes Swinford, Ashley Pannell Barnes (Christopher), and Hannah Pannell, all of Ripley.
Carolyn had a deep passion for life’s simple joys. She loved working in her garden, raising her chickens, and baking and cooking for her family and grandbabies. Fall and Christmas were her favorite seasons, and her home was always filled with warmth and celebration during these times. A talented crocheter, Carolyn also had a fascination with the stars and the solar system, particularly the moon, which brought her comfort and peace. One of her favorite ways to relax was sitting outside by a fire, enjoying the serenity of nature. Her constant companion was her beloved Dachshund, Sophia, who was always by her side.
Carolyn’s life revolved around her family, and she cherished every moment with her six grandchildren: Jakob “Kob” Pannell, Ethan “Et” Lancaster, Emileigh “Mady” Swinford, Jase Swinford, Landon “Tyler” Pannell, and Charleigh “Moo Moo” Swinford. She was deeply involved in their lives, sharing her wisdom, love, and, most importantly, her strong faith. Carolyn took great pride in teaching them about Jesus Christ and the importance of living a life rooted in faith and love for God.
She leaves behind her three daughters, six grandchildren, four sisters: Betty Adams of Booneville, Lula Belle Sides of Ripley, Inez Brown of Ripley, and Teresa Short of Bonneville, and two brothers: Charles Brown of Booneville, and Jessie Brown of Ripley.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Pannell, her mother, Dottie Short, and her father, Charlie Brown.
