Kyra Alisha Cook, a cherished and beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, and cousin, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in Booneville, MS, at the tender age of 9. Born on April 29, 2015, in Tupelo, MS, Kyra was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.
Services to honor her life will be on Friday, September 27, at 2:00pm at Victory life Center. A visitation will be from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Thursday, September 26 at United Funeral Service. Also a visitation the day of the service from 1:00pm till service time at Victory Life Center.
From a young age, Kyra exhibited a zest for life and a passion for learning. She was homeschooled after attending Victory Christian Academy, where she thrived in her studies and formed lasting friendships. Kyra’s inquisitive mind and creative spirit were evident in her love for building with Legos and crafting. She possessed a unique ability to bring joy and laughter into any room, a testament to her friendly, funny, and loving nature.
Kyra’s talents extended to the arts of knitting and using the knitting machine, skills she learned and enjoyed immensely. Her small hands were rarely still as she created beautiful pieces that she loved to share with her family and friends. Kyra’s sense of style shone through in her enjoyment of dressing up, and she could often be found adorned in outfits that reflected her vibrant personality.
A true animal lover, Kyra cherished her cats, who were her constant companions and confidants. Her bond with her pets was a source of comfort and happiness throughout her life. Kyra’s relationship with her father was especially close, and she was affectionately known as a “daddy’s girl.” Her love for her parents, Shanna Bell Cook and Brandon Cook, was deep and unwavering.
Kyra’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was a devoted member of Victory Church in New Albany, where she found a community of support and spiritual growth. Kyra’s strong belief in heaven was something she wanted others to know about, and she often shared her conviction with those around her.
Despite her young age, Kyra touched the lives of many through her participation in the LeBonheur-Ryan Seacrest Game Show at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Her ability to light up the room with her presence made her a favorite among the patients and staff, and she will be remembered for the courage and positivity she displayed.
Kyra leaves behind a loving family, including her mother, Shanna Bell Cook; father, Brandon Cook; paternal grandmother, Betty Davidson; maternal grandmother, Dee Browning; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Bill “Papaw” Bell, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms. Although her mom and dad will miss her beyond measure, Kyra shared with them, that she was ready to go to Heaven and be with her Lord and Savior.
Kyra’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her friendly smile, her infectious laugh, and her loving embrace will never be forgotten. Kyra Alisha Cook’s life, though brief, was a testament to the power of love, faith, and joy. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that Kyra’s spirit will continue to inspire and guide us from above.
