Jennie Bell, 83

February 26, 1941 — September 24, 2024

Jennie Bell of New Albany, MS passed on from this Earth Tuesday, September 24th at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo after battling a long term illness. She was 83.

Jennie leaves behind her beloved husband Rex Bell of 13 years and her children Warren Brown and Theresa Simmons.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Floyd Brown, siblings Sara Yates and Albert McAlexander. She is survived by her husband, Rex Bell; her children, Warren Brown, Steve and Theresa Simmons, Jeff and Kerry Bossert; her grandchildren, Matt and Haley Lustig, Shaun and Carissa Schuster, Graham and Carley Sibley; and her great-grandchildren Mary, Charlotte and Elizabeth Lustig; Atlas and Kora Schuster; and Kennedy Sibley.

After completing cosmetology school, Jennie flourished in her dream career as a cosmetologist, treating her clients as if they were family.

In her spare time, Jennie loved antiquing, volunteering with New Albany Church of Christ, painting, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jennie was joyful, selfless, generous and kind, all attributed to her faith and love of Jesus Christ. Jennie was always eager to share the love of Jesus Christ with others in need by baking a meal with a special Bundt cake affectionately called a “meme cake” or always being available to provide a listening ear.

After Floyd passed away in 1999, Jennie married Rex Bell in 2011. They spent their retired years gardening, taking care of their rescue cats, Kitty Boy and Lucy, spending time with friends and traveling to visit their children and grand children.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00am at Glenfield Funeral Home in New Albany, MS with a burial to follow.

If you would like to make a charitable donation in Jennie’s name, consider giving to New Albany Church of Christ, a place that was close to her heart.

While we mourn in her passing, we rejoice in the hope of eternity and look forward to seeing her again in that place where “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain…” (Rev 21:4b).
