Stover Clay Phillips, 32
March 11, 1992 – November 7, 2024
NETTLETON – Stover Clay Phillips, 32, perished from this earth as the result of a truck/train mishap at the Brewer Crossing in South Lee County. His buddy and brother, Graham, died in the same accident. Stover was born in Tupelo on March 11, 1992, the firstborn child of four children born to James Rodney Phillips and Connie Stover Phillips. He grew up in a happy home surrounded by the love of a close family and many friends. Stover graduated from Nettleton High School in 2010 where he was an excellent bowler, winning a State title one year. He received an Associate’s Degree from ltawamba Community College and joined the United States Air Force in 2012. A patriotic American, he was honorably discharged with the rank of E-4 in 2018. Stover served as a crew chief flying to numerous countries as well as serving in Kuwait. He and his fiancé, Nicole, and her two children, Lexi and Mia were planning to be wedded in the near future. An avid outdoorsman like his brother, Stover enjoyed the family land and home, roaming the hills, holler and bottom land. He was first employed at Toyota Manufacturing after his military service and was a Maintenance Technician at the time of his death. His all too brief life was filled with love and adventure, and he left a strong legacy of military service and kindness to all he met.
A joint service celebrating his life and that of his brother, Graham, will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 9, 2024, from the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo with his great uncle, Taylor Dabbs speaking. Burial, with military honors, will follow on the Phillips Homestead north of Nettleton. Visitation begins at 9 AM and continues until service time Saturday. Stover is survived by his parents, Rodney and Connie Phillips; his fiancé, Nicole and her two children, Lexi and Mia; his beloved twin brother Gunter Phillips and brother Sawyer Phillips and his wife Kimberly and their daughter, Lettie, all of Nettleton; his maternal grandmother, Linda Stover of Tupelo; his aunt, Lisa Bristow (Robert) and their children, Avery and Tucker (Sarah), all of Saltillo, his sister in law, Danielle and her daughter, Rylee, and a host of beloved friends everywhere. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald Stover and Murry and Patricia Phillips.
Pallbearers will be Gunter Phillips, Sawyer Phillips, Ramon Buggs, Cody Gillentine, Josh Hipps, Garrett Cook, Cody Hankins, Tucker Watts, Bradley Sullivan, Joe Sullivan, Taylor Dabbs, Jr., and Garrett Westbrook.
