Rickey E. Griffin, 68

January 5, 1956 – January 3, 2025

TUPELO – Rickey Eugene Griffin, 68, passed away peacefully at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, on January 3, 2025, surrounded by his family, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on January 5, 1956, to the late Vaudry Eugene Griffin and Edith Walton Griffin of Tupelo, MS. Rickey was a devoted member of Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS, and had a deep love for Jesus. A 1975 graduate of Tupelo High School, he was known for his passion for sports, especially football. Rickey was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and taking rides on the water. He proudly owned G & G Sheetmetal and Roofing in Tupelo, MS, for over 40 years and served as president of the Mississippi Roofing Contractors Association twice.



Rickey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Amy Carnathan Griffin, and their four children: Laura Criddle (Jon) of Guntown, MS; Andrew Griffin (Katie) of Randolph, MS; Christina Spencer (Scot Trifilo) of Albany, NY; and Kimberly Romero of Olive Branch, MS. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren who were his world: Jake, Haley, Jon David, Ryan, Mac, and Evelyn. He leaves behind his brother Garry Griffin (Ann) of Blue Mountain, MS, and two sisters, Pat Cross (Don) of Brandon, MS, and Debrah Pender (Rodger) of Mooreville, MS, sister-in- laws Cathy Hendrix, Bonnie Wilson, and Ellie Sheffield (Woody) along with numerous nieces and nephews

Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, Vaudry and Edith Griffin, his in-laws, Peanut and Betty Carnathan, brothers-in-law, Tommy Carnathan and Ed Hendrix, and his special companion, Tinkerbell.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Metcalfe, Joe Griffin, Roger Griffin, Woody Sheffield, Jerry Walton, and Larry Walton

A service celebrating Rickey’s life will be held on Monday January 6, 2025 at 2 PM in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time Monday. Rickey will be laid to rest at Oddfellows Cemetery in Okolona, MS. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at 2 PM at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/live-streaming and afterward archived.
