Mooreville- Roger Allen Hussey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 15, 2025, in Tupelo, Mississippi, at the age of 78. Born on April 4, 1946, in Tupelo, Roger’s life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and love for both his family and his faith.
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard for 42 years before retiring in 2008. He often spoke of his helicopter seat being the “best seat in the world”. His commitment to service and excellence marked a career that was both distinguished and inspiring. Beyond his military service, Roger was a true entrepreneur. In 1976, he founded Muffler Master, a business that remains in operation today, reflecting his enduring legacy of hard work and ingenuity.
Roger’s interests and passions were as diverse as they were heartfelt. He had a deep appreciation for cultivating new skills, whether beekeeping, raising goats, farming, or gardening. His joy in nurturing life was evident in all that he did, and he approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and care.
Above all, Roger cherished his family and the time he spent with them, always prioritizing their happiness and well-being. On March 28, 2015, he married Donna Barber Hussey. Their nearly ten years of marriage were filled with love, companionship, and shared faith. Roger’s legacy is also carried on by his cherished family, who will forever remember his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support.
A devout Christian, Roger’s faith was central to his life. As a member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo, he actively participated in mission trips, spreading the message of love and service to communities in Cuba, Canada, and beyond. His unwavering belief in the Lord guided his actions and left an indelible impact on those who knew him.
Roger Hussey’s life was one of purpose, devotion, and love. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roger is survived by his wife, Donna Barber Hussey of Mooreville; two children, Matthew Allen Hussey of Mooreville, and Anna-Liesa Marie Hussey of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Allie Grayce Stacy, and Finn Elliott Treadwell; four step-children, Shad Lamb and his wife, D., of Tupelo, Justin Lamb and his wife, Emily, of Fulton, Ashley Bowles and her husband, Jason, of Shannon, and Brittany Kirkpatrick and her husband, David, of Cleveland; additional grandchildren, Dawn Hardenburg and husband, D.C., Ken Phillips and his wife, Jessie, Corbyn Bowles, Lucy Rose Bowles, Ann Frances Kirkpatrick, and Raden Kirkpatrick; two great-grandchildren, Noah Hardenburg, and Adeline Hardenburg; sister, Linda Mitchell; step-brother, Junior Milton; and nieces and nephews, Pam Tharp, Mike Mitchell, Andrea Taylor, and Amanda Fowler.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Lynn Hussey; and brother, Kenneth Ray Hussey.
Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Pegues, Tupelo.
Funeral service with Military Honors will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Tupelo with Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Private graveside services will follow at Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Shad Lamb, Justin Lamb, Jason Bowls, David Kirkpatrick, Michael Tharp, Mitchell Tharp, Mike Mitchell, and Chris Hussey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Dickey’s Sunday school class, Elizabeth Prewitt, Laura Enlow, Andrea Taylor, Amanda Fowler, Pam Tharp, Big Herman Hussey, Little Herman Hussey, and Michael Cole.
