James Horace Lemmons, 85, of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice. Born on March 1, 1939, in Tupelo, James was the beloved son of the late Oren and Mary “Mama” Bowles Lemmons.
James lived a life full of adventure, faith, and love. He was a member of the Civitan Club and faithfully attended Living Waters Church and Genesis Church. Known for his passion for singing, mountain climbing, traveling, fishing, and exploring unknown trails, James inspired those around him with his zest for life and curiosity.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Stephanie Bishop Lemmons; his daughters, June Hardy (Robert) of Palm Bay, FL, Anna Justice of Fulton, and his adopted daughter, Tasha Fraga; his sons, James Lemmons “Jr.” (Sharon) of Las Vegas and Jonathon Justice of Fulton; and his sister, Kathleen Armstrong. James was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Henry Lemmons and Robbie Lemmons; his sisters, Sue Goggans and Betty Ann Hammock; his nephew, Jerry Armstrong; and his adopted grandson, Mayson Wayne Fraga.
The family will celebrate James’s remarkable life with services on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Associated Family Funeral Home in Tupelo. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
