Community action results in reversing planned elimination of local WTVA weather team
NEMiss.News is happy to report that the local outpouring of support for the WTVA weather team has apparently not fallen upon deaf ears. In a reversal of previously announced wholesale firing of all its weather teams, Allen Media Group (AMG) has announced different plans.
Details of exactly how this will play out are still a bit sketchy, but WTVA has announced that its Severe Weather Authority team will be staying to serve the local community.
Once the firings were announced, local support for the weather team was immediately heard from many sections of the community. Announced plans called for the WTVA terminations to culminate in March 2025. Voices of the community protested the plans via social media, public statements, news articles, contacts with the Federal Communications Commission and a massive petition effort.
We hope that AMG has reconsidered all weather team firings, for the benefit of the people everywhere who depend upon them on a daily basis.
