Linda Jean Sloan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Granny), and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 79 Baptist Memorial Hospital Desoto County, Southaven Mississippi.
Born on August 20, 1945, in Union County, Mississippi, Linda was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all those who knew her. Remembered for her vibrant spirit and warm heart, Linda was a dedicated manager in the restaurant industry. Her passion for cooking brought joy to her family and friends, and many will recall the delicious meals she lovingly prepared. Linda had an unwavering love for spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
In addition to her culinary talents, Linda found joy in shopping, junking, and antiquing, often sharing her finds and stories with her family. A passionate domino player, she cherished playful moments filled with laughter and competition, always encouraging those around her to enjoy life to the fullest.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Byron Sloan; her sons, Scotty Jarvis, and Anthony Douell (Tracy). Grandchildren, Joseph Jarvis (Katie), Dustin Jarvis (Nicole) and Cali Douell. Great grandchildren Anderson Jarvis, Katherine Jarvis, Phoenix Jarvis, Konner Jarvis, Kaylynn Jarvis, Caden Smith, and Jaxston Smith. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Travis and Jewel Rakestraw and daughter in law Kristy Jarvis.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda’s life at Glenfield Funeral Home Wednesday February 5, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM. A funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM. Don Chandler will be speaking.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Jarvis, Dustin Jarvis, Ricky Jordan, Dale Manning, Gale Manning and Johnny Anderson.
In the hearts of those left behind, Linda’s memory will shine brightly. Her love for cooking, family, and the simple joys in life will continue to inspire all who knew her. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, let us remember the laughter, love, and warmth she gave us through her beautiful spirit.
