Earline Little McCord, 95

November 17, 1929  –  February 9, 2025

Earline Little McCord, a beacon of love and gentleness in the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, in Blue Springs, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 17, 1929, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Earline was a woman whose presence was as nurturing as the gardens she tenderly cultivated throughout her life. She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

The daughter of James (Jim) Franklin Little and Emma Boyd Little, Earline grew up as an only child. Her life was a tapestry of love and dedication, woven through the years she spent caring for her home and family. Her devotion to her family was further exemplified in the way she cherished her children, mourning the loss of her beloved son, Steve McCord, and celebrating the joys of life with her daughter, Kathy McCord Moss (Scotty), and sons, Mike McCord (Rhonda) and Scott McCord (Traci), her adored ten grandchildren, and her thirteen great-grandchildren, who will continue to be inspired by her kindness and gentle spirit. In addition to her son, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Stanley McCord.

Throughout her life, Earline found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. As a homemaker, she transformed her house into a home, filling it with the fragrance of her garden and the warmth of her kitchen. Her hands, skilled and tender, brought beauty into the world through her love of sewing, and her mind, ever curious and bright, found adventure in the pages of the books she so loved to read.

Earline’s passion for her community shone brightly through her involvement with the Ladies Homemakers Club, where she shared her love for crafting and camaraderie. Her laughter and wise counsel were as much a part of the club’s fabric as the quilts they sewed and the recipes they exchanged.

A true Southern lady, Earline’s love for good ole catfish was a testament to her appreciation of life’s culinary delights. Her cooking, a language of love in itself, brought her family together every Sunday, creating a tradition of togetherness and nourishment that continued until her health began to decline.

Those who knew Earline will remember her loving nature, her kind words, and her gentle touch. She had an extraordinary ability to make each person feel cherished and valued, and her influence will be felt for generations to come. Her life was a living example of the virtues she held dear, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
