Jerry Wayne Clifton, 73

January 16, 1952 – February 9, 2025 

Jerry Wayne Clifton, 73, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS, surrounded by his family.



Funeral services honoring Jerry’s life will be at 2 PM Thursday February 13, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Bennett officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service of Thursday February 13, 2025, at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born January 16, 1952, in Pocohontas, TN, Jerry was the son of the late Archie and Thelma Clifton of Middleton, TN. He received his education from Middleton High School and on October 20, 1972, he married his beloved wife, Mrs. Brenda “Gail” Smith Clifton, who survives. Together they built their life in Ripley and raised their children. Jerry worked hard as a carpenter throughout his life and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. After he retired, he enjoyed working in his garden, trading at First Monday, taking care of his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy in life was his family.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, brother Troy Clifton, sister Cratie Brown, daughter Rejeana Barkley, and nephews Brian Clifton and Ronnie McCormick.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Clifton, his daughter Melissa Clifton, son Kevin Clifton (Lindsay), his Grandchildren Kristin McCollum (Curnal), Ashley Moore (Joseph), Noah Henry, Annie Clifton, Luke Clifton; his Great-Grandchildren Saylor and Emery Moore and Ava and Jackson Page.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Shackleford, David Carter, John David Cox, and Robert Henry.

Pallbearers will be Mark Smith, David Smith, Richie Clifton, Jimmy Childs, Noah Henry, and Austin McCollum.
