Leroy Johnson, 94

April 18, 1930  –  February 8, 2025

Leroy Johnson, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at National Healthcare in Greenville, SC. He was born April 18, 1930, in Blue Springs, MS, to the late Ruff and Zana Mae (Letson) Johnson. He was a graduate of Jericho High School. He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Marion Ella (Roberts) Johnson in 2006. Leroy served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the destroyer the U.S.S. DeHaven. He retired as a firefighter for the City of Memphis. He then spent several years farming and working for Paul Smithey Construction.

Lerοy has lived in South Carolina with his daughter Sonia for the past 17 years. He is survived by a son, Barry Johnson of North Richland Hills, Texas, and by two daughters, Sonia Johnson of Taylors, SC and Deigh Regnier of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren: Trey Johnson, Maegan Elam, Emilee Shelton and Spencer Rehn. Leroy has four great grandchildren: Sutton and Finley Elam and Cassidy and Everly Shelton. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Spearman of Saltillo, MS.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Jewell Keck of Saltillo, MS and Jean Lucas of Memphis, TN.

He also leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at United Funeral Service of New Albany, MS, on Sunday February 16. Visitation from 1:00 PM – with service to follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be sent to the National Aphasia Association.
