Hugh Caldwell, 74

June 8, 1950 – February 9, 2025

Mr. Hugh Junior Caldwell, 74, of Water Valley, MS, transitioned on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Yalobusha General Nursing Home.

Hugh Junior Caldwell was born June 8, 1950 to Gordon and Esteen Caldwell. He departed this life on February 9, 2025. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Pine Grove East M.B. Church where he was a faithful member unto his health declined.

He was a graduate of Central High School class of 1968 and joined the armed forces as a United States Marine serving until 1970. He was a Viet Nam veteran. He was also a Grand Master Mason. Hugh enjoyed socializing with friends, the Pittsburgh Steelers and basketball.

Hugh was united in holy matrimony to Alma Fay Chapman in September 1977. To this union two children were born. He worked at Crown Cork & Seal until he retired.

Hugh leaves to cherish his memories three sons: Hugh Caldwell, Jr. (Vickie), Johnny B. Caldwell and Nathaniel Murphy, three daughters: Lula Hill of Chicago, IL, Jennifer (Jabo) Sanford and Rolanda Ware of Water Valley, MS, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, brother; John Lee (Lula B.) Caldwell 4 sisters; Barbara Ann (Charles) White, Shirley Faye (Charles) Wright, Bennie Faye (Wayne) Phillips all of Water Valley, MS  and Alma Lee (Michael) Jones of Oxford, MS, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Esteen Caldwell, his wife; Alma Fay Chapman Caldwell and one sister; Gertrude.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., and Service at 2:30 p.m., at Pine Grove East M.B. Church, 113 County Road 94, Water Valley,  MS  38965.

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
