Proverbs 3:15 – She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
Ms. Betty Ann Greer Self departed this world on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County, surrounded by her loving family.
Services celebrating the life of Ms. Self will be at 11 AM Friday March 7, 2025, at the Church of Acts in Union County with Bro. David Bishop and Bro. Steve Denton officiating with burial following in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Union County. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9 PM on Thursday March 6, 2025, at the Church of Acts in Union County.
Ms. Self was born on August 26, 1953, in Union County to the late Joseph Henry and Jessie Faye Marie Thomas Greer and attended West Union School. A Christian, Ms. Betty was a member of Crossroads Jesus Name Praise and Worship Center, where she enjoyed singing gospel music and worshiping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ms. Self was a seamstress and employee of Stratford Furniture for over 12 years before her retirement.
Described as having a “green thumb,” Ms. Betty enjoyed gardening, especially her roses and could be found socializing on Facebook or watching her favorite television show, the Golden Girls. A fan of classic cars, Betty’s dream car was the 1957 Chevy Bel Air, that she made mention of frequently to friends and family. Ms. Betty’s greatest love was the time she shared with family, especially her children and grandchildren, where she took pride in preparing fried chicken and the best banana pudding you ever put in your mouth. Although there will be sad moments for her family and friends in the days to come, Betty no longer needs that “Durn Medicine” as she called it, because she is home now, spending eternity in the presence of God.
Those left to cherish her memories include three daughters, Lisa Lumpkin, Tammy Mayo (Kenneth), and Jessie Davidson, three sons, Marvin Dewayne Hale (Melissa), Reginald David Hale (Ashley), and Perrian Bradley Self Jr. (Sherry), two sisters, Johnnie Vanstory and Sherry Oconnell, three brothers, Terry Greer, Reggie Colbert and Charles Hale.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Betty is preceded in death by two sisters, Vickie Greer, Rhonda Pannell and one brother, Danny Greer.
