Thomas Kenneth Cissom, 79
July 25, 1945 – April 12, 2025
Exactly one day after celebrating 62 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, making multiple memories with his family and friends, and dedicating his life to serving our Lord faithfully, Mr. Thomas Kenneth Cissom, 79, lifelong resident of Tippah County departed his earthly life on Saturday April 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home, with family waiting in full support as they said goodbye.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday April 15, 2025, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 AM until time of service. Dr. Jack Bennett and Bro. Dewayne Floyd will officiate, and burial will follow in the Whittentown Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Kenneth was born July 25, 1945, in Tippah County to the late Fant and Ruth Windham Cissom. He received his education from Pine Grove High School and on April 11, 1963, married his beloved wife, Mrs. Wanda Nell Meadows Cissom, who survives. They built their lives together in Tippah County, where they started their home, raised a wonderful family, and served the community well. A hard worker, Mr. Kenneth was employed as a factory worker and installed flooring for over forty years, always doing right by others and offering a helping hand constantly. He was a member of Whittentown Baptist Church, where he faithfully served the Lord, and in younger years found much joy playing on the church league softball team, as he was quite the athlete, stirring up the dust as he would run fast from plate to plate.
As his life continued to grow, Mr. Kenneth always enjoyed the simple things in life. He found much joy being outdoors in God’s creation, where he spent many days on the pond bank fishing, in a deer stand hunting, or sitting on the tailgate, listening to the beagles run. Whether it was sitting on the porch, watching traffic go by, listening to all of George Jones’ greatest classics, or even pulling horses and going on trail rides, Mr. Kenneth prioritized living life to its fullest. His family rang above all, as he made certain of being the best husband to Mrs. Nell and was extremely proud of their children and grandchildren, bragging on them often and providing them with the best life possible.
Mr. Kenneth knew the true riches in life were not of money or materialistic things, rather it’s the loving family and great friends that make you truly wealthy and fulfilled. We are forever thankful for the testimony his life served and although he will be missed greatly, it is with great comfort knowing he has been healed and through the Lord’s promises, that we will get to see our brother in Christ, Mr. Kenneth again someday.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Nell, loving memories will continue to be shared by three children, Angela Bradford (Burt), Tracie Hopkins (Dale), and Randy Cissom (Angie Boggs), his grandchildren, Whitt and April Johnson, Jason Mathis, Camron, Tasha and Charlie Hopkins, Megan Pannell (Chris), Emily Jones, Randa Cissom and Luke Braddock, 14 great grandchildren, three sister in laws, Belinda Meadows, Geraline Cissom, and Peggy Cissom, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Elliott, J. W., Frank, Johnny, and Ray Cissom, sisters, Edith Ketchum and Kay Cissom, brother-in-law, Bobby Meadows, father-in-law, Lester Meadows, and mother-in-law, Alta Meadows.
