Sherri West Lazore, 62

October 3, 1962 – April 28, 2025

Tupelo—Sherri Lynn West Lazore died Monday, April 28, 2025, at her home in Tupelo. She was born in Washington DC on October 3, 1962, the daughter of John William “Bill” West and Bonnie Sue Workman West. A graduate of Tupelo High School, Sherri went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in education. In 1987 she married Michael Lazore and they spent 33 years together before his passing 2020.

Sherri was an elementary school teacher for the Tupelo Public School district and was a part of the curriculum team for the last years of her career. She retired in 2012 after 27 years of service with the district.

She loved her part-time work with Walton’s Greenhouse, enjoying the work outdoors as well as the friendships she gained with colleagues and customers alike. She also worked as a substitute teacher for Tupelo at several elementary schools.

She enjoyed gardening and taking her two dogs, Jacks and Adi, for walks around the neighborhood.

Sherri was a follower of Christ, attending Parkway Baptist as well as other local churches. She was a kind-hearted person, eager to help anyone in need. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Sherri leaves behind her dad, Bill West and stepmother, Virginia Holloway, of Tupelo; her brother, Tim West and wife, Lily, of Saltillo; her sister, Johnie Franks and husband, James, of Pontotoc; her son, Joshua; and nieces and nephews, Maggie and McKenna Franks and Will and John West. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie West, and her husband, Michael Lazore.
