Phenomenal Woman. That’s Her! Donning makeup, earrings, stylish blonde hairstyle, and the latest fashions. Lucille celebrated life and left this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family, like she wanted it. Lucille was a godly woman, who was beautiful inside and out. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Lucille lived life to the fullest and believed in love, legacy, and family. She was a phenomenal woman.

Lucille Y. Burress was born March 20, 1929, in Prentiss County, MS unto the late Bella Haley and Robert Young. She journeyed to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2025, at Landmark Nursing Facility in Booneville, MS. We thank the nurses and entire staff for taking such great care of her.

She was preceded in death and now in heaven, reunited with her loving husband, Archie Lee “Lut” Burress, her mother, father and sisters: Luvenia Sullivan, Bessie Young and many other loved ones and friends.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Louise Shinault, Renell Gardner (late Charles Gardner) and her special goddaughter, Wendy Gardner (Johnny). Grandchildren: Anthony L. Burress, Sr. (Mariea), Camelia Wilson (Otis Sr.), Andrew Shinault, Jr. (Wendy), Melissa Burress, Randy Shinault (Michelle) Charles Gardner, Jr. (Samantha), Kayla Williams (Brian), Darius Shinault (Shartonae), 28 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. This sums up a rich legacy of 5 generations!

As a little girl, Momma Lucille was a vivacious firecracker, she was strong, determined, she was not afraid to speak her mind, and most importantly she made an impression on anyone who met her, she was a phenomenal woman with a loving spirit.

Momma Lucille was not a stranger to hard work; she was a sharecropper in the cotton fields, before becoming one of the first African Americans to work with the Prentiss Manufacturing Company located in Booneville, MS. She worked for 37 years and retired.

She not only loved her job, but she also loved to go fishing, work in her flower garden, talk on the phone with her buddies: Emma Jean, niece She-She (Sheila Young) and rest their souls, Genette and Mae Elizabeth and spending time with her family and friends. But above all, she loved GOD and her church family, Ruben Chapel CME Church. She always looked forward to cutting up with Raymond when he came to pick up her tithes and offerings! Momma Lucille will be truly missed by all!
