Rodney Nix, 44

May 26, 1980 – May 25, 2025

Roderick Paul Nix, known as Rodney to his friends and family, passed away on May 25, 2025, just one day shy of his 45th birthday. Born on May 26, 1980, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Rodney was a man whose spirit and infectious humor brought joy to all who knew him.

Rodney’s early years were spent in the town of his birth, where he was a well-known figure in the community. After graduating from South Pontotoc, he proudly served his country in the Marine Corps, embodying the values of honor and dedication that would define his life. Rodney’s commitment to excellence continued in his professional life, where he worked for Winchester in Oxford, MS, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Family was the cornerstone of Rodney’s life. He loved his wife, Candy Kay Chappell Nix, and his daughters, Alyssa and Kayleigh. His family circle expanded to include his stepchildren, Cassie Kimbrel (Ben) and Cody Edwards (Breanna), whom he embraced with open arms. The joy of his life was his nine grandchildren, Callie, Elizabeth, Taylor, Tyler, Rodney, Brenna, Ashton, Corbyn, and Asher, whose activities and accomplishments filled him with immense pride.

Rodney’s siblings, Junior Holland and Shelby Nix, shared in the many cherished memories of growing up with a brother whose sense of humor and love for life were contagious. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Mask and Ruth Nix Britt.

A man of diverse interests, Rodney was an avid collector of sports cards, with a particular passion for baseball and wrestling memorabilia. His collection was more than a hobby; it was a testament to his appreciation for the history and stories behind each card. Rodney’s love for sports extended to his unwavering support for the Florida Gators and the New York Mets, teams he followed with enthusiasm and loyalty.

Rodney’s humor was a gift he freely shared, always aiming to make everyone around him laugh and find happiness, even in the simplest moments. His ability to light up a room with his wit and jokes was unmatched, and his presence was a source of comfort and entertainment for his family and friends.

Rodney’s life was a tapestry woven with love, service, and joy. His impact on the lives he touched was profound, and his memory will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Roderick Paul Nix, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and cherished moments.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Rodney Nix will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May his story be recounted with smiles and his legacy be carried forward through the lives of his beloved family and the many friends who were fortunate enough to be part of his remarkable journey.
