Jerry Lynn Foster, 64

November 3, 1960 – June 2, 2025

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Jerry Lynn Foster, 64, a life-long resident of New Albany, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 2 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church in New Albany with Bro. Charlie Davis officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 5 PM until 8 PM and again on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 12 PM until time of service at Hillcrest Baptist Church in New Albany.

Born November 3, 1960, in New Albany, Jerry was the son of the late George “Cootie” and Hazel Lamar Foster.  He was a 1978 graduate of W.P. Daniel High School and married his beloved wife, Susie Gates Foster, on March 9, 1985, who survives.  While in high school, he played baseball and football and received the Bulldog Award in 1978.  He continued his baseball career at Northeast Mississippi Community College.  Subsequently, he evolved into a skilled painter, contributing to the family-owned business, Foster’s Painting, in collaboration with his father, George, and his brother, Larry, for a duration of forty-six years. Jerry lived his life to the fullest by volunteering at his church, hunting, fishing, golfing, constantly pranking his friends and spending time with his family.  He had an uncanny way to make everyone around him feel welcome and included.  A selfless and generous man, he had the most infectious personality.  He cherished his three grandchildren and consistently attended every event in which they participated. His legacy lives in the lives he touched, the family he raised, and the faith he held dear.  Even though we will miss Jerry, we find comfort in knowing that with the Lord’s promise, we will see him again in our Heavenly home.  Oh, what a day that will be!

Memories will continue to be cherished by his loving wife of forty years, Susie, two sons, Brock Foster (Kristin), and Ben Foster (Avery),  two sisters, Bonnie Kay Nolan and Theresa Still (Wayne), one brother, Larry Foster (Diane), forever remembered and cherished by his three grandchildren, Ella, Beckham and George Foster, his nieces and nephews, Tonya Hill (Chad), Shannon Nobriga (Ryan), Ed Hopper (Lauren), Brittany Striplin, Jim McKinney, Leslie Swords (Nathan), Lauren Allred (Steven) and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Melanie “Mel” Foster and his life-long friend, Randy Dunnam.
