Sheron Stovall Agnew, 79

January 10, 1946 – June 22, 2025

Sheron Stovall Agnew, a devoted educator, lifelong learner, and beloved member of the Prentiss County community, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in Memphis, TN, on January 10, 1946, Sharon was the youngest daughter born to the late Lillie Gibbs Stovall and Virgil Stovall. She was lovingly raised from a young age by her devoted aunt, the late Ester Lee Stovall Sorrell, in Rienzi, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed the sounds of the choir and worshipped faithfully, and served as the church clerk for many years.

She was united in matrimony to Veroy Agnew, who preceded her in death. To that union, three sons were born; Broderick, Eric, and Brian, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Sheron dedicated over 40 years of service to the Prentiss County School District, where she worked with distinction as a school administrator. Known for her wisdom, compassion, and dedication to students and staff alike, she left a lasting impact on countless lives and helped shape the future of education in her community.

A graduate of Northeast Mississippi Community College, Sheron earned an Associate’s Degree in Culinary and Business Administration. She was a passionate lifelong learner, earning numerous certifications after college as part of her commitment to personal and professional growth.

Outside of her family, career, and church, Sheron enjoyed cooking and gardening-two of her favorite ways to show love and care to those around her. Her meals nourished many, and her garden was a place of peace and beauty that reflected her spirit.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Broderick, Eric, and Brian; a host of beloved grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Ezell) Wilson of Atlanta, GA and Dianna (Russell) Gordon of Detroit, MI; dear sister friends May Catherine (Cat) Bush and Betty Brooks, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, church members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Sheron will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kind heart, her gentle spirit, and her steadfast commitment to family, community, and service. Her life was a testament to grace, strength, and love.
