Peggy M. Andrews Haynes Thacker, 86

October 23, 1938 – July 2, 2025

Shannon, MS — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy M. Andrews Haynes Thacker, a devoted wife, cherished mother, and beloved friend, who departed this life on July 2, 2025. Born on October 23, 1938, in Dade City Florida, Peggy embodied a spirit of love, kindness, and generosity that touched everyone who knew her.

Peggy’s greatest accomplishment was her role as Momma. She embraced motherhood with unwavering dedication, nurturing her daughters Angie Nunnelee (Billy) and Vickie Holbrook, and son Glenn Haynes (Ambrose), and instilling in them the values of compassion and faith. Her warmth extended to her husband Vern Thacker, grandchildren, Larry Haynes (Billie Jean), Justin Nunnelee (Amber), Brandi Criswell (Ben), Joshua Sullivan (Jen), Clay Cayson, Lauren Dyer Hurt (Matthew), and Kristen Ray, and her many great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Alfred Haynes, sons Larry Haynes and Edwin Bubba Haynes, daughters Lynn Lombas and Leann Ellis, and 2 grandchildren, Melissa Martinelli and Travis Martinelli.

Known for her spiritual nature, Peggy spread love and thoughtfulness in every interaction. She loved Southern Gospel music, and she and Vern loved to sit on the porch and feed the hummingbirds. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Vern Thacker, who cherished her presence, and by all whose lives were brightened by her gentle spirit.

A celebration of life service honoring Peggy will be held at 3 PM Monday, July 7, 2025, at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Visitation will be from 1 PM to service time. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman whose love knew no bounds. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
