Anthony “Pops” Barfield, age 62, of Okolona, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was born on March 29, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to Thomas Barfield and Henrietta Wilson Barfield.
A man with a big heart and a quick wit, Pops was known for his vibrant personality and his love for life. He worked as a chef at Cubs Stadium, where his passion for food and people came together in a career he truly enjoyed. Whether he was watching or playing basketball, catching a wrestling match, or sitting around the table playing cards, Pops lived life with energy and joy. He was outspoken, always had a joke ready, and never failed to bring a smile to those around him.
Anthony was a beloved father to his daughters Brianna Barfield and Shakira Barfield, and a cherished grandfather to Sanylah, Delilah, Darnell Jr., Cameran, Kaleeyah, Lileanna, Cardair, and Leilani. He is also survived by his loving mother, Henrietta Barfield, and his sisters Dionne, Sharon, Trina, Tonya, Crystal, Lynette, Tara, and his brother Tommy.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 33 years, Celeste Barfield, his father Thomas Barfield, and his brothers Michael and Allen.
Per his wishes, no services are planned at this time. The family finds comfort in honoring him privately and holding his memory close in their hearts.
