Shania Carter Bennett, 27
February 20, 1998 – August 23, 2025
With hearts full of love and sadness, the family of Shania Bonae Carter Bennett, age 27, of Iuka, Mississippi, announces her passing on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Shania was born on February 20, 1998, in Mississippi to the late Vanessa Carter and Romaine Southward.
Shania was a bright light to everyone who knew her. She had a caring heart and a joyful spirit, which she carried into her work as a caregiver. She loved helping people and was always the one family and friends could count on for a listening ear, a helping hand, or a good laugh. Shania was a proud member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Iuka, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
She had many talents and passions—she enjoyed cooking, singing, styling hair, babysitting, and swimming. No matter what she was doing, she brought energy, laughter, and love into every space she entered. Her family and friends will always remember her beautiful smile, her sense of humor, and the warmth she gave so freely.
Shania leaves to cherish her memory her father, Romaine Southward; her sisters, Anessia Southward and Tia Ricks; and her brothers, Elijah Southward and Semaj Smith. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who loved her deeply.
She was welcomed into heaven by her mother, Vanessa Carter; her maternal grandparents, Willie J. Carter, Jr. and Doris Carter; her paternal grandfather, Raymond Bennett, Jr.; her uncle, Skylar Bennett; and her great-grandparents.
A celebration of Shania’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Iuka, with Reverend Dennis McCoy officiating. A wake will begin at 11:00 A.M. until service time on the same day.
The family is comforted knowing that Shania’s love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
