James Timothy “Tim” George, 62
March 12, 1963 – August 29, 2025
James Timothy George, best known as “Tim” to all those who knew and loved him, entered into the presence of his dear Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of Friday, August 29, 2025, with family patiently by his side.
Per his request, Mr. Tim will be cremated and services celebrating his life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates all prayers at this time and asks that you continue to share the memories and stories made with such a remarkable man.
Born on March 12, 1963, Mr. Tim was the son of the late James Thomas “J.T.” and Nina Mae Steger George. He was a graduate of Falkville High School in Alabama, receiving some college education, before enlisting in the United States Navy. Proudly serving his country, Mr. Tim gave six years of active duty as a Hospital Corpsman, stationed on USS Guam in addition to other places such as Maryland, and New York. He continued two more years in the Navy Reserves before answering a higher call—pursuing his seminary degree and devoting his life to ministry.
On September 4, 1983, he married his beloved wife, Mrs. Sharon Hill George, and together they built a life centered on service to others and drawing people closer to the love of Jesus. For over three decades, Mr. Tim traveled far and wide, serving as a youth minister in multiple churches, pouring his energy and passion into the lives of young people, and sharing the Good News wherever God placed him.
In 2009, he and Sharon returned to her family’s roots in Potts Camp, where they enjoyed the love of their community and raised their three sons in a home built on strong Christian values. A true Southern Baptist at heart, Mr. Tim was a man who dreamed big and saw the world differently than most. Where others might see an empty corner or an unused space, he saw possibility. He was a visionary—always sketching, planning, and bringing new ideas to life. His gift was not only dreaming but finding a way to make those dreams reality.
Though Tim carried a big heart, he carried it with humor, wit, and a touch of sarcasm that made him unforgettable. He enjoyed pulling pranks on his family, tossing out a quick one-liner, and making sure laughter never ran far behind him. Friends and family alike knew that if you walked into his home, you were welcomed with open arms—but you might also leave with a project or two on your hands, because Tim always had a plan in motion.
When cancer entered his life a little over a year ago, Tim’s perspective shifted. Though he never let it get the best of him, often time using his humor or ability to break the ice with a joke while at doctors visits, he always viewed any situation with a “glass half full” perspective, regardless of the circumstances. He became more intentional about the moments that mattered most, and the fast pace and endless projects slowed as he began savoring the simpler gifts of life: cheering on Alabama football with his sons, celebrating Christmas holidays surrounded by his grandchildren, or ending the evening with his wife and a big bowl of ice cream. In those final months, he embodied the peace and joy of a man who had learned to find contentment in life’s sweetest, quietest blessings.
Although we will miss him dearly as a husband, Dad, brother, Grandpa, Papa and friend, we find comfort in knowing that Tim’s faith has now become sight. The years he spent proclaiming the love of Christ have given way to the eternal joy of standing in His presence. We rejoice in knowing that he has heard those cherished words: “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Including his wife of forty two years, Mrs. Sharon, his legacy will continue to live on through his three sons, James Brian George (Lydia), Joshua Brent George (Jehnnie Ruth), and Sumner Jay George (Teresa), two sisters, Sonya Jackson (Craig), and Montae Robertson (Joel), thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a special daughter in law, Jennyetta Washington George, his sister in law, Pamela Davis (Jim), three brother in laws, William Hill (Jima), David Hill (Margaret), and Daniel Hill (Sonia), and a wide circle of friends and family.
Family request donations be directed to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or The Gideon’s Bible International, in Mr. Tim’s honor.
