Marvin Oris “MO” Harris, II, 71
January 4, 1954 – August 30, 2025
Verona-A great soul who lived life large, Marvin Oris Harris, II, known by all as MO, died at his residence in Verona doing what he loved best, watching Ole Miss play football. MO was born in Kosciusko, Attala County, Mississippi on January 4, 1954 to the late Marvin O. Harris, Sr. and Geraldine Clemons Harris. With his dad a Highway Patrolman, he grew up in Kosciusko, Greenwood and Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1972 where he was a standout football and baseball player. He attended Ole Miss for 4 years, with his major primarily Marketing and partying in full Ole Miss fashion. Following in his dad and brother’s footsteps, he successfully attended the Highway Patrol Academy. For several years he was a Mississippi Highway Patrolman. After finding out he really didn’t want to be in law enforcement, he became a salesman of extraordinary ability. His last years selling were in the Medical Equipment business. He enjoyed several years of retirement where he spent most of his time outdoors, on his patio, in the woods hunting and fishing area lakes and streams. He was an active and engaged member of the Myrtle Beach Hunting Club in Myrtle, Ms. He loved grilling and cooking and his patio was a special place to he and his wife, Melissa. A lover of music, MO could be found supporting Ole Miss sports all year long. He was always full of life, laughter and was a consummate southern storyteller.
A memorial service celebrating his life will take place Friday, Sept. 5, 2025 at 4 PM in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Visitation will follow the service at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo-which is honored to be serving the family. (662 840 5000)
MO is survived by his wife, Melissa, to whom he married in Lee County on June 9, 2001; his mother in law, Katheryn Martel Bell of Verona; a nephew and neice, the children of his late brother, Jim, Chris Harris of Brusly, La and Chelsea Harris Dufrene and her husband, Brandon of Baton Rouge, La and a great niece, Sylvie Dufrene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Geraldine Harris and his brother to whom he was very close, Retd. Hwy Patrolman Jim Harris and his wife, Ann.
