Martha Carolyn Hardin Steen, 77

May 2, 1948 – September 4, 2025

Martha Carolyn Hardin Steen, known to most everyone who loved her as Carolyn, met the promises of her dear Savior, Jesus Christ, and entered into her Heavenly Home on Thursday morning, September 4, 2025, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Ripley, with her family faithfully by her side as they tenderly said goodbye.

A simple graveside service honoring her life will be held at 1 PM Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the Shiloh Presbyterian Cemetery in Alcorn County.

Born at home in Biggersville, Mississippi, on May 2, 1948, Mrs. Carolyn was the daughter of the late George Winfred and Cora Thelma Ballard Hardin. A 1966 graduate of Corinth High School, she later married the love of her life, Mr. Kendall Wayne Steen, on July 4, 1969. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family in the Alcorn County community. Their bond was one of deep devotion until his passing on April 1, 2023.

A saved Christian and faithful Southern Baptist, Mrs. Carolyn loved the Lord with all her heart. She read His Word with joy, prayed often, and lived each day mindful of His promises. She found delight in gardening, being outdoors, traveling, and above all, in loving and caring for her family, who were her greatest earthly treasure.

In her own hand, she once wrote: “My children I truly love so much, for they have endured me through my whole life, always being there for me when I needed them most. I have lived a good life and I am so thankful, for I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and will spend eternity in Heaven with Him.” These words are more than a reflection; they are the testimony of a life lived in unwavering faith and gratitude. Her writings now stand as a comfort and a legacy, pointing us directly to the assurance she carried in her heart.

Although she will be greatly missed, there is peace in knowing that Mrs. Carolyn lived in such a way that left no doubt of her eternal destination. Truly, she has now heard those blessed words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Lisa McCalla (Brian), two sons, Ken Steen and Zack Steen (Brandy), and two grandchildren, Riley Steen (Haley) and Lindley Steen, along with a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Neal Hardin.
