Wilma Ann Finch Cordell, 84

May 23, 1941 – September 18, 2025

Nettleton-Wilma Ann Finch Cordell, at age 84, gained her wings and entered heaven at 9:30 PM, Thursday, September 18, 2025. Wilma was born in Ravenna, Ohio. on May 23, 1941 to the late Norman Russell Finch and Larona Dorsey Finch. She grew up in Ohio and attended the public schools there. She first married Larry Lamarr Dean, Sr., a US Air Force man who was killed in the Vietnam War. She later married Jerry R. Cordell, another career military man who served in several states including Ohio, North Dakota and Arkansas, where he retired. In 1975, they made Mississippi their permanent home. Wilma had a passion for children and worked many years in the Day care industry. She was known for her watch care, special attention, and encouragement of all kids she cared for. She later worked many years at Quality Foods in Shannon, where she was loved by all their customers and her bosses, the late Charles Nash and Martha and their son’s. A quiet moving force of nature, Wilma grounded her faith through her faithfulness to God, family and community as a longtime faithful member of New Chapel Community Church. She was an encourager and tireless volunteer at the Nettleton Food Pantry and actively participated in the W.I.N. G.S. (Women In God’s Service) at New Chapel Church. She loved playing Bunko and was cherished by her dog, Sassy, who died 13 days before her death. She also enjoyed daily lengthly calls with Lyn (special niece in AZ to keep up with her AZ family).Wilma’s legacy will be that of a woman who had her priorities right, honored labor, tended to her family and honored her Lord and Savior.



A private family graveside service will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery west of Shannon. Bro. Tommy Monts will officiate. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends.

Wilma leaves behind her daughter, Denise Taylor (Rick) of Wheeler; her sons, Larry Dean (Kay) of Nettleton and Randy Cordell (Cindy) of Shreveport, La; her grandchildren, Justin (Lacy), Brittany (Adam) , Ben (Jo), Josh(Karla) and Daniel (Mary Alice); her great grandchildren, Rose, Ethan, Kathryn, McKayla and Ariel and two youngsters she loved spoiling, Alivai and Amberli Williams; a sister, Carol Buzuleciu (Sam) of Mesa, Arizona and a brother, Sam Warren (Joanne) of Mesa; and 3 youngsters, Alivia and Amberli Williams and Sonia Windham; and a new great grand to arrive in March that Ms. Wilma was so excited about.
