Micheal Wayne Bates, 57

November 28, 1967 – October 15, 2025

Micheal Wayne Bates, age 57, departed this earthly world and was welcomed into his Heavenly home on Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025, at Diversicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley, Mississippi.

Per Micheal’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal service will be held. The family asks that friends and loved ones remember him for the life he lived—freely, honestly, and in his own way.

Born on November 28, 1967, in Arkansas, Micheal was the son of Travis Bates and the late Callie Wilson Bates. He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and worked locally as long as his health permitted.

A Christian man who spoke his mind and lived without pretense, Micheal was strong-willed and unafraid to stand his ground. He believed in being real, and those who knew him best would say he never left you guessing what he thought. Yet beneath that tough exterior was a man who loved deeply and cared for others in his own quiet way.

He found peace in life’s simple pleasures—hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors were some of his favorite ways to unwind. Micheal enjoyed being near the water, whether casting a line or taking a slow ride in his boat, soaking in the calm of nature.

Though he didn’t ask for much from life, he gave what he could—his honesty, his loyalty, and his love. Micheal lived life on his own terms and will be remembered for exactly that: a man who did things his way, loved hard, and never failed to speak from the heart.

Those left to cherish memories include his father, Travis Bates, one sister, Patricia “Pat” Johnson, Step son, Jimmy Mann (Stacey), and granddaughter, Alexis Mann.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Callie, and one brother, Travis Bates Jr.
