Mooreville-Jonathan Jabari Rogers, known by most as J.J., met his Creator on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 after a motor vehicle accident on I-22 at the Fawn Grove exit in Itawamba Co. He was 18 years old. Born on May 5, 20O7 to Jonathan “Solo” Rogers and the late Sarah Pettigo, he was raised by Jimmy Ward and Angela Gwen Culver Floyd. They officially adopted him in 2023 after having him in their lives since he was 22 months old. J.J. was a rambunctious young man always filled with high energy and adventure. A friend to many, J.J. had an infectious personality, was a practical jokester and prankster and loved bringing joy through laughter. He graduated from Mooreville High School in 2025 and was a first semester freshman at Itawamba Community College studying business administration. He had worked at Chucky Cheese and completely fit the role of Chucky! J.J. was known as a gentle giant with a big heart.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Thursday, November 13, 2025 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Keith Cobb and Bro. Bry Robbins officiating. A private burial will follow in the Kirkville Cemetery in Itawamba Co. Visitation will be from 4 PM-7PM today (Wed. 11/12) and from Noon-service time on Thursday all at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Live-streaming at 1pm and will be archived thereafter.
J.J. is survived by his parents, Angie Floyd and Jimmy Ward of the Mooreville area; his biological father, “Solo” Rogers of Minnesota; his siblings, Corey Fetterman (Sarah) of Saltillo, Skyler Floyd (Britney) of Southaven, Adam Ward (Joy, fiance’) of Nashville, Spencer Floyd of Tampa, Florida, Morgan Taylor (Destin) of Fulton, Colby Cox of Pickwick, Javon J. Rogers of Fulton, Amazin Rogers and Josiah Rogers of the Mooreville area; 5 nieces and 1 nephew and special cousins, his family from Mooreville High School and ICC and a host of friends everywhere. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Sarah Pettigo and a brother, Javon Rogers.
